The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides home modification funding for eligible clients aged under 65 years old with a permanent and significant disability. Information on the rules and guidelines around what the NDIS will fund can be found here.
It is important to remember that the NDIA would only consider a home modification if it is the participant’s primary residence and they intend to remain living there, or, if the participant lives in a rental property, a written agreement from the property owner has been provided.
In addition, the NDIA has specific guidelines around what represents “value for money” in home modifications and specifically considers the cost of lower cost alternatives, the cost of finding alternative accessible accomodation and the length of tenure for participants.
At Nurture and Flourish we will advise not only on what home modifications might be appropriate but also, if applicable, what other solutions might offer a better “value for money” approach.
We can assist you to prepare a funding submission and obtain quotations for the modifications you require to meet the goals in your NDIS plan.
NDIS participants please note, at present we are only able to provide services to Plan Managed and Self Managed NDIS participants.
